Abstract:
This paper deals with the incidence of multi-office holding of local mandates on the French Deputies? work. We define this work through three types of activity : law production, control of the government and constituency representation. Using dea, we compute efficiency scores for the deputies of the 12th legislature (2002-2007). This score allows to question the link between multi-office holding and legislative activity. We find out a positive relation when we use static definition of the multi-office holding, even its magnitude is low, and no relation when we use dynamic definition. These findings give small evidence that complementary effect between parliamentary work and local mandates is higher than substitution effect. Classification JEL : D72, D78
