Abstract:
This paper analyses the influence on the young firms? growth of the characteristic of their area of location. The location can be considered as a pool of resources, outlets and access to specific coordination devices. The effect of a large number of characteristics of regions is tested through a model apply on the individual data from the SINE survey of INSEE. It is shown that some characteristics of the location area play a small influence on the growth rate of young firms during their first three years. More precisely, the munificence of the local environment is positively associated with growth, as the specialisation of the region in the industry of the firm which involves the offer specific resources and location economies. On the opposite, the intensity of competition is negatively linked to growth.
