Abstract:
In the paper we give a systematic view on the main empirical evidences related to the transformation of the use of patent considered as a quasi financial asset. We delineate the roots of this new trend and picture the new organizations (actors and strategies) that pull it. We show the gap between accounting and reporting standards and this trend. Finally we stress the consequences of this crucial trend for the working of patent markets. We conclude that patent is not a true financial asset.
