‪Effets internes et externes du développement des hydrocarbures non conventionnels aux États-Unis: bilan d’étape et perspectives‪

Patrice Geoffron and Sophie Meritet ()

Revue d'économie industrielle, 2014, vol. n° 148, issue 4, 105-131

Abstract: ?This paper analyses the development of non-conventional hydrocarbons, distinguishing its ?internal? effects, i.e. observable in the North American area, and those of ?external? nature, economic or geopolitical ones, spreading beyond these borders and particularly in Europe. ? The objective is, in particular, to determine the range of adaptations offered to the Europeans to deal with the enhanced American competitiveness. The essential conclusion is that, to the extent where European companies cannot benefit from energy prices (gas, electricity) comparable to those in the United-States, they absolutely have to maintain their advantage in terms of energy efficiency.
