Abstract:
The digital transformation of firms has progressed to the extent that fundamental questions are being raised about the nature of work and the ?social and political construction? of markets. In-depth research on the automotive repair sector illustrates both these issues. Companies in this sector are responding to changes caused by digital technology in a way that seeks to preserve the specific nature of their work. They are also challenging the ability of such tools to address demand in embedded markets in a suitable manner. JEL classification: J50, J51, J52, J53, L20, L21, L22, L23, L84, O30, O31, O32, O33.
