Revue d'économie industrielle, 2021, vol. n° 174, issue 2, 63-87
Abstract:
This contribution considers the place occupied by the notion of creativity in John Maynard Keynes?s oeuvre and intellectual life. First, a reassessment of Keynes?s concept of rational choice reveals a strong criticism of usual rationality and stresses Keynes?s view that psychology plays a crucial role in the analysis of economic agents? decision-making. The article also explores Keynes?s conception of artistic activities and creativity in the economy and in civilization in general. The text also emphasizes Keynes?s own view of creativity and of the means of financing artistic activities. Finally, the last section proposes a reflection on the contemporary legacy of Keynes?s insights into the notion of creativity.
