Abstract:
Due to their emblematic quality, academic spin-offs have received increasing attention in various literatures. However, their emerging process remain unknown. Based on the entrepreneur, his venture project and the context, this article examines dynamics specific to the pre-launched phase. We propose a model in which some dynamics foster academic spin-off emergence when others inhibit. Results bring out the leading role of university, and provide explanations regarding the weakness of university spin-off phenomenon in France.
