Abstract:
Very little research has been carried out on institutional support for women entrepreneurs despite the recognized role of support plans in developing female entrepreneurship. This study thus aims to identify the terms and conditions of this support, so specific to the female entrepreneurial process of very small business creation. Our results show that the female entrepreneurial process requires specific and relevant support services and that a lack of provision of this specific aid means that female entrepreneurs may not wish to benefit from the support for business initiatives that is available. We show that gender sensitivity, as a socially constructed categorization, can help offer new types of support. This research also describes the importance of particular support programs including several different learning methods and practices.
