Abstract:
In a first section, we evaluate the effects of the reform program proposed by the Public Health Insurance (la Caisse Nationale d?Assurance Maladie, part of the Sécurité Sociale) using the MOSAIQUE Keynesian macro-economic model. We also analyze some alternative sets of reforms chosen for reasons of realism. In a second section, we discuss the financial implications of three alternative trends of health expenditures in the medium term (until 2004). We show that if the recent behavior of health expenditures keeps on for the years to come, they will be relatively well financed by the receipts of contributions generated by the French economic growth.
