Abstract: The debate on financial incentives to work did not end with the creation of the ?Prime pour l?emploi? (PPE). In particular, the treatment of family dimension is a crucial aspect whose implications are not well established. For instance, some reform are means-tested at the household income level ? the suggested ?Allocation compensatrice de revenu? (ACR) or the British WFTC ? and would imply a disincentive effect on married women whose partner is active and eligible to the benefit. Thought as an individual policy measure, the PPE is also conditioned on household income. I use a structural model of labour supply to compare the potential effects on married women activity of three in-work benefits, namely the 2003 version of the PPE, a family-sized measure (the ACR) and an individualized measure.
