Combien tu m'aimes ?. Pour une analyse économique de la politique cinématographique française

Abstract:
An economic analysis of the audiovisual and cinematographic markets shows some failure. Moreover, these markets do not satisfy to cultural imperatives, such as diversity, although theses imperatives are accepted practically all around the world : a film is both a good and a piece of art. French cinematographic policy tries to conciliate these divergent objectives, even if the industrial goal is often covered. The ?plan Lang? oriented the French policy toward some industrial explicit goals in 1989. This ambiguity weaken the French interventionist policy at the WTO or at the European Commission. If the cultural part is most of the time finally accepted, the industrial part is often the target of protectionist accusations. However, an economic evaluation of the main instruments of this politic is necessary for further discussion, especially for mechanisms with disputable effects, especially when they encourage concentration.
