Énergie et théorie économique: un survol
Jacques Percebois
Revue d'économie politique, 2001, vol. 111, issue 6, 815-860
Abstract:
This paper analyses how economic theory is able to answer some questions posed by the energy sector : determinants of oil pricing, public monopolies pricing, structure of network industries such as natural gas or electricity. It lays emphasis on the consequences of open access and competition in these network activities. The paper studies two types of questions : 1) controversies concerning the optimal structure of a network industry (production, transmission, distribution of natural gas and electricity) ; 2) controversies concerning the optimal energy pricing (final energy prices, access pricing on the transmission-distribution networks).
