Abstract:
In this article, I try to give shape to the idea of repugnant market, which has been developed by Alvin Roth. Roth wanted to understand the resistance toward the setting up of market organization for certain kinds of goods. This is why economic engineers were forced to develop some other coordination devices. I focus of the social resistance toward organ trade. After the presentation of the different argumentations against the market, I identify three main stands of the repugnance: the social marking à la Zeliser, the kind of population involved in the exchange, and the way some exchanges get off the legitimacy of market, when the remuneration become incentive.
