Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2001, vol. février, issue 1, 97-113

Abstract: This article deals with the structuring process of the territory by the private and publics actors?strategies in the microelectronic industry localized in the « pays d?Aix ». Here, we present the main results of our inquiry realized about the industrial establishments in « Bouches-du-Rhônes », which allow to question about the factors of territory footing. We also use other sources of information for a better understanding of the path dependency of the milieu as well as how to reinforce the relationships between all the actors. This may be achieved through some intermediate organizations able to promote the local development. Finally, our article stresses on the current weakness of the foundations of the territory footing which has to be interpreted prudently because of the recent private initiatives coupled with local public organizations efforts.
