Abstract:
Using panel data, this paper tries to study, the functioning of regional labour markets in Tunisia during the 1989-2000 period. The concept of matching function is used notably to test the assumption of a differentiated functioning of labour market which could play a part in the determination of unemployment dynamics at regional level. The empirical analysis outlines a significant spatial disparity of efficacité levels which are determined by labour supply and demand factors. This result suggests that labour market policy should reduce regional unemployment partly by improving the functioning conditions of regional labour markets. Classification JEL : R 230.
