Émergence de pôles secondaires et rôle des macroagents urbains au sein de l'agglomération bordelaise

Frédéric Gaschet

Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2003, vol. décembre, issue 5, 707-732

Abstract: The urban structures have changed deeply under the influence of the suburbanisation of people and employment. This trend does not lead however to a generalized sprawl of households and firms but rather to a process of agglomeration within new urban subcenters. Within the bordeaux metropolitan area, these subcenters appear to be clearly diffenciated from the main center, in terms of size and economic functions. A specific combination of agglomeration and dispersion forces is then proposed to explain these features, based upon the attention paid to the role of public and private developers. The capacity of these forces to explain the location, size and economic specialisations of the different subcenters is examined through the estimate of a discrete location choice model of firms. Classification JEL : R11, R12.
