Abstract:
After a short presentation of the Walloon Area, the rural context of Wallonia is presented. Various territorial development tools are commented on, whether their range is municipal of supar municipal. Relevance on these tools depends on the size of the territory and the political aims. Two tools, specifically rural are initially examined : the Communal Program of Rural Development and the Natural Park, whose new definition strongly modified the range. Other development tools available for all municipalities, whether they be rural or not, are also approached. As municipalities show variable interest for these tools, it seems that the most tools are best fitted with expectations and requirements of local authorities. The complexity which comes out from this multiplication of tools is underlined, as well as the limits rising from the restriction in the municipal boundaries. Lastly, the difficulty of many rural municipalities to manage these opportunities for the best is also commented on. Classification JEL : O18, O21.
