Une typologie des aires urbaines: le logement et l'emploi facteurs d'inégalités

Abstract: We use a typology of urban areas as an instrument to understand the differences and the inequalities into mainland France. It exists large differences between the cities ; they are not facing the same problems. In France, there are 354 urban areas which represent 18.4 millions households and 44.1 millions people, that is to say about 77.4 % of households and 77.0 % of inhabitants. Using two statistical analysis methods, we highlight the differences and the similarities existing between the urban areas. Results show the importance of the percentage of each housing tenure (social renter, private renter, owner) in the differentiation of urban areas. Classification JEL : R11, R12, C6.
