Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2004, vol. décembre, issue 5, 713-735
Abstract:
This article highlights the individual and collective mechanisms of regional resources utilization and regeneration underlying the territorial development process. More precisely, it shows that individual apprenticeship, realised by productive actors in the context of their innovative activities, participate in the development of dynamics and collective capabilities when territorialization agents insure the development or the maintenance of institutional and organizational proximities through coordination, at the local scale, of production agents? actions. On the empirical side, the analysis is based on two case studies, that of the Canadian Center for Magnetic Fusion (CCFM) and that of six biopharmaceutical branches located in Québec. It shows how R&D activities contribute to territorial development through subcontracting. Classification JEL : B52, D21, L65, O18, O31.
