Abstract: In France, the enrollments in higher education are not distributed similarly in the regions. The aim of this paper is double. On the one hand, it tries to study the determinants of the demand for higher education in the French regions. On the other hand, it proposes indicators of attractiveness of the regions for the students. The empirical findings show that the most attractive regions during 1997-2002 are : Île-de-France, Midi-Pyrénées and Rhône-Alpes. Classification JEL : 1121, RO.
