Abstract:
The case of Greater Paris represents a passage to a certain extend, from which we can build an idealtype of metropolitan action. It presents specific characteristics that strongly distinguish types of action usually studied within organisations, the political sphere or social movements. Heavily illustrated by the Greater Paris, here emphasis is on four levels and where we try to show how they structure the Metropolitan Action : (1) characteristics of players and their means of engagement and involvement, (2) regulation of cooperation by the territorial reference, a concept that in a Metropolitan case has great features, (3) the specific terms of building the meaning given to the action and (4) the objectives nature of the action (aimed and actually achieved), which raises many questions.
