Abstract: For ten years, the government has been promoting group practice in primary care, particularly towards primary care team(s). This article offers a preliminary assessment of these structures through an approach based on geographic and econometric tools. This dual approach aims at analysing the distribution of these structures and their impact on the density of liberal general practitioners (GPs). The methodology is based on the development of spatial typologies, and a case-control study comparing the evolution of the density of GPs in areas with and without primary care team(s), before and after the generalization of this policy. The results show a more rural location of these structures, especially in underserved and deprived areas, and a smaller decrease in supply in some rural and suburban areas with primary care team(s).
