Stress, anxiété et dépression au travail: existe-t-il des différences entre entreprises ?

Abstract: Despite the increasing social cost of stress at work, the determinants of psycho-social risks of workers remain poorly documented in France. Studies on stress at work are usually case studies, which does not allow assessing possible specific differences between firms. This paper examines the determinants of stress, anxiety and depression using a sample collected by the Institut d?Action Français sur le Stress covering the period from 2002 to 2007. It includes 10 125 workers from six large French firms. Gender, diploma, occupation, seniority as well as firm effects are relevant factors explaining not only the magnitude of selfreported stress, but also the levels of anxiety and depression. However, psycho-social risks measured at work are not restricted to the professional dimension as shown by the positive effect of having a spouse on stress and depression.
