Abstract: This paper analyses the relationship between sustainability and economic growth. It summarizes the reasons why GDP cannot be used as a well-being indicator, and presents the economic theory of sustainability. Finally, it proposes some practical measures allowing the economies to reach a more sustainable growth path, if they accept to make some sacrifices.
