Abstract:
This article assesses the contribution of the economic convergence apparatus of the countries in the Cemac zone, and analyzes its economic implications, especially with respect to budgetary considerations. The assessment of this multilateral institutional monitoring system is carried out through an analysis of the sigma-convergence of its various components. The results of the analysis highlight a significant convergence of these components over the period of estimation despite periodic instances of interruption. Various remedial measures designed to improved the working and efficiency of this prudential system are suggested in view of the many dysfunctions observed in its current implementation.
