Abstract:
Over the last thirty years, economic models of the family have been developed to recognize that potentially conflicting interests may shape family decisions and the sharing of resources within families. This paper provides an overview of how decision-making within households has been modelled recently within economics, especially focusing on the « collective model » of the family which is the dominant model in the field, as its theoretical as well as its empirical developments and applications have been developing at a fast rate.
