Abstract:
Compensating environmental damage of electricity transmission lines would facilitate the acceptance of new projects by host community. However, contested measures entail conflicts and division. This article opens the debate and gives some landmarks by reviewing two key issues : Is there a social benefit to have more targeted collective compensatory measures, compared to a simple cash transfer to the municipality ? Furthermore, can we consider collective compensatory measures fairer than individual cash transfer ? The study develops an empirical approach based on the evaluation of the preferences and perceptions of potential beneficiaries, by implementing deliberative choice experiments.
