Dominique Foray

Revue française de gestion, 2002, vol. n° 139, issue 3, 131-154

Abstract: The specific nature of the network industries requires adequate technological strategies. Do these firm have to undertake a battle of standards or agree upon a common standard ? In order to grasp the stakes and the risks of this alternative approach, the article briefly studies the properties of the market dynamics, inside network industries, then examines the innovation strategies of the firms, with respect to each one of these competition modes. Last, the various market structures resulting from these processes are examined.
