Abstract:
The objective of this research is to emphasize the growth of the Free-to-Play revenue model in the video game industry where a free access is given to the game content but the user must pay micro-transactions to access additional content. Throughout an experience centered approach, this new monetization model is contrasted with the dominant Pay-to-Play model in which payment is required (purchase of the game or subscription). The research shows how to satisfy gamers by choosing relevant in-app purchases without compromising the game experience and assuring durable revenue model for game editors.
