Abstract:
The nature of subjective success makes it difficult to reach an agreement regarding its definition. This research focuses on perceived career success as the aim is to distinguish it from career satisfaction. Using a sample of 362 managers, we examine the links between perceived career success (cognitive appraisal), career satisfaction (affective evaluation), objective success and career anchors. The results show that career satisfaction acts as a mediator on the objective success and perceived success relationship. We found also that managerial anchor moderates this mediation.
