Abstract:
By proposing alternative readings of organizational reality, fiction renews the view of managerial practice. This article treats fiction as a potential empirical material that can be used to support theoretical work. It explores the concept of work through the prism of Gaston Lagaffe. In a very subtle way, Gaston Lagaffe raises the question of meaning at work and its appropriation. We emphasize how, in Gaston Lagaffe comic strip, meaning at work is first and foremost a subjective experience. It involves a play with the rule and an intense ?bricolage?, in which Gaston appropriates the objects that surround him and his work space. Thinker of socio-materiality, Gaston Lagaffe also acts as a revealer of the paradoxes that drive organizational dynamics
