Abstract:
What are the links between strategic response to institutional pressures and organizational decoupling in Chinese public hospitals? To answer this question, a participatory observation research study was carried out in a Chinese public hospital to highlight several types of decoupling and the strategies developed to respond to institutional pressure. This research enables an analysis of how compromise and avoidance strategies contribute to perpetuating organizational decoupling in the context of conflicts between managers and medical staff.
