Contre le dolorisme en sciences de gestion. Musil et le sourire du chercheur

Hervé Laroche

Revue française de gestion, 2024, vol. N° 316, issue 3, 107-121

Abstract: The invitation to produce ?research that breaks your heart? (Morales 2023) calls for a discussion on this vision of research oriented by suffering, which I describe as infused with ?dolorism.? Based on suffering, but also on humanity, strong emotions, the body, vulnerability, and compassion, this vision has negative consequences for research. I contrast the image of today?s researchers with ?broken hearts? with the portrait of scholars ?smiling into their beard,? as drawn by Robert Musil in The Man Without Qualities almost a century ago.
