Abstract:
Professionalization of home helpers is based on the hegemony of the market convention of professionality. Such a hegemony has a jeopardizing effect on the construction of a virtuous circle between employment quality and service quality. We propose an approach in terms of conventions in order to restore the diversity of the professionality?s dimensions. Such an approach fills out a democratic and pluralistic vision of professionalization which does not bring to a close debate concerning the hierarchy and the relative value of the different conventions. On the contrary our analysis brings some evidence of their necessary coexistence.
