Quand préférences déclarées et révélées s'opposent: le téléspectateur, un cas paradoxal pour l'économiste

Abstract: This article deals with the paradox underlying the difference existing between ?what people watch and what people declare? about television. This observation questions the theory of revealed preferences. How viewer?s satisfaction can be estimated and understood ? How public authorities? interference with market preferences could be justified? This paper aims at providing a conceptual framework to evaluate preferences. We also study what are the consequences of this paradox with regard to public intervention.
