Mouvements longs Kondratieff, transformations institutionnelles et performances du capitalisme

Éric Bosserelle

Revue française de socio-Economie, 2015, vol. n° 15, issue 1, 283-298

Abstract: This article proposes to put the institutions/performances couple and Kondratieff long waves in relation. It starts from the phase of weak growth and major economic hardships that has been affecting capitalist economies since the beginning of the 1970s (phase B of the Kondratieff) and whose scope is bound to lead to numerous interrogations. This phase follows the long expansive phase that unfolded from 1945 till 1973 (phase A of the Kondratieff), during which capitalist economies registered outstanding performances. Although it is true that these performances are directly connected with the deep institutional mutations that took place between 1920 and 1939/1945, a back-up study over this period leads us to question the unescapable role played by the two world wars in these transformations, a question that has retained little attention of the economists.
