Abstract: Subcontracting is frequently analysed as part of the dichotomy between the centre and its margins. Based on a research on the IT department of a transport company, the article aims at showing that this form of organisation can also deeply transform the relationship between margin and centre. Subcontracting enables to organise a trial for the employees of the main contractor who may be gradually sidelined in their work for the benefit of the subcontractors.
