Abstract: The lightening of material constitutes a major trend in the sports industry. Combining lightness, technicality, and durability is a challenge, since such properties have long been considered antagonistic. In this paper, we focus on the successive forms taken by two objects, subject to the whim of plural interventions and influences coming from actors and non-human entities. In order to rebuild the trajectories of these innovations (one pioneer, another follower), both the material and social components are taken into consideration.
