Abstract:
This paper studies the solidarity economy through the lens of gender, combining a critical and a possibilist view. This double perspective is inspired both by the substantive meaning of economics suggested by Polanyi and by feminist scholarship. It sheds light on how solidarity economy practices renew economics and politics, understood here as categories of action and thought. This double perspective also highlights the multiple and winding paths of emancipation, which result from intertwining principles of exchange whose balance is in constant flux.
