Abstract:
The objective of this article is to document the credit granting process since the Basel reforms. Our survey shows how banks value SMEs? credit risk through calculations as set out by Callon and Muniesa (2003) on the different chain segments induced by the bank?s organizational structure. We show that reducing risk is not the only objective involved in bank?s decisions: moral considerations and embeddedness logics are also at stake. The result of economic calculations generates a regulation of the credit offer.
