Abstract:
The agrarian reform settlements in Brazil are made up of a set of plots that have been divided and conceded by the state to the families of "landless peasants." In this ethnographic study, I try to understand how the plots and lands of these rural settlements are "composed" through time and how in this process of creative interaction a complex "tangled set" [tudo embolado] known by settlers as a system is produced.
