Abstract:
Civil service has traditionally been considered the standard form of public employment in France, with precarious jobs being a minor part of the system. The growing use of short-term contracts by most public employers and the recent changes in the civil law are challenging this model. Non statutory forms of public employment are less and less atypical, as the French public employment system becomes dual.
