Abstract:
Dealing with disputes notified at the WTO Disputes Settlement Body (DSB) between 1995 and 2004, the purpose of the paper is twofold : assessing the nature of US trade policy and characterizing the profile of the USA in trade disputes. The study is based on an analysis of the USA as complaining country and as responding country, looking at the kind of country implied in the dispute and at the type of trade dispute. We find that the USA as complaining country are implied in cases different from those initiated by other WTO Members against the USA. We also find that there is no bias in DSB : the USA loose in more cases than they win.
