L'accès des pays pauvres aux médicaments et la propriété intellectuelle: quel apport des partenariats multiacteurs ?

Abstract: The reinforcement of IPRs protection resulting from the entry into force of the TRIPs agreement has significant consequences on access to medicine in poor countries. This very sensitive issue has provoked vivid debate and a great deal of controversy. Public/private partnership agreements between international organizations active in the health field, such as the WHO, NGOs and pharmaceutical companies are amongst strategies explored in order to overcome the drawbacks of the enhanced protection of IPRs on access to medicine. This article analyzes the efficiency of those partnership agreements with a focus on their potential as well as the challenges they face in ensuring improved access to medicine in poor countries.
