Le volontariat
Léon Lemercier
Reflets et perspectives de la vie économique, 2004, vol. XLIII, issue 3, 105-114
Abstract:
The article starts with the meaning of voluntary engagement, i.e. the civic consciousness of a citizen who cannot be unconcerned about his environment. It is more « another life» rather than « another job». Voluntary work is a « gift of time» and cannot be compared to a job, even if the production is the same. Then the article addresses some misconceptions about voluntary work and in particular the profile of volunteers. The paper also deals with the importance of voluntary work in the economy.
