Léon-H. Dupriez et le discours vrai

Reflets et perspectives de la vie économique, 2005, vol. XLIV, issue 1, 39-47
Abstract:
The purpose of studying and deepening economic epistemology is to learn how to make economic analysis relevant, i.e. how to explain truthfully the very complex real world. The first section of this paper tries to clarify the concept of truth on historical and philosophical basis as well as to honour Léon-H. Dupriez for his indefatigable quest of truth. The second part deals with the method of a meaningful explanation in economics. The explanatory methods used in physics and based on mechanical relations are not valuable in social science like economics. Choosing the truthful explanatory method is the most important epistemological issue.
