Olivier Joseph and Séverine Lemière

Abstract: In the context of evolution of law in France concerning equality between men and women and discrimination, this paper shows discrimination between young men and women (of French and foreign origin) in their entry path into the labour market. Two types of youth path are identified : on the one hand, having the same job after the end of their studies and 3 years after, and on the other hand, having a first job after the end of their studies and another one 3 years after. Discrimination is measured in terms of job access and of wage. This paper questions also the effects of labour market and of human resources practices in firms on discrimination.
