Le financement de l'enseignement supérieur et le contexte budgétaire de la Communauté française de Belgique

Robert Deschamps and Valérie Schmitz

Reflets et perspectives de la vie économique, 2006, vol. XLV, issue 2, 47-57

Abstract: This contribution analyses the financing of higher education within the budgetary context of the French Community of Belgium. In the first section we present the general rules of financing of the French Community, including education. We then examine the impact of the new financing system of universities decided in 2004. Next, we look at the evolution of education expenditures since 1991 per level, globally and per pupil/student, and we make some comparisons with the expenditures of the Flemish Community. Finally, we conclude by commenting a few stakes of higher education and scientific research for growth and employment.
