Abstract:
We survey the issue of environmental limits to growth in macroeconomic theory. We first analyse to what extent economic growth may be constrained in a world with finite natural resources. We next cover the topic of growth-induced environmental degradation. For both themes, we present the developments of neoclassical growth theory and study how they are questioned by the arguments of ecological economists.
