Patricia Delbaere and Johan Pauwels

Reflets et perspectives de la vie économique, 2015, vol. LIV, issue 4, 95-108

Abstract: The article first highlights sustainable development indicators. It explains the method to evaluate the evolution of these indicators towards sustainable development objectives and presents the results of this evaluation through the 2015 scoreboard of sustainable development indicators. This scoreboard of 25 key indicators measures the evolution towards a sustainable development in federal Belgium since 1992. The article also presents the legal framework of a new mission of the Federal Planning Bureau (FPB) to develop a set of complementary indicators to measure the quality of life, human development, social progress and the sustainability of our economy, so-called ?GDP and beyond? indicators. It explains how the FPB develops these indicators in 2015 and announces that early 2016 the FPB will publish the first edition of the report with indicators complementing GDP.
